ARTWORK SUMMARY

I first visited and fell in love with Hoi An, Vietnam with all its enchanting colourful lanterns and old world charm during a particularly dark time in my life. After coming home from said trip, I have since used lanterns in my paintings as symbols of enlightenment and of shining through during life’s most trying times. The almost ethereal beauty lent to the town by its lanterns, especially when they’re all lit up at night, is something I have always sought to achieve in my works.
