CRISTENE CHANG HOEI is a mixed-media artist who deploys printmaking techniques to create unique works rather than multiples or editioned prints. Her approach has garnered awards including the First Prize Ray Fawcett Memorial Award London (1996), First Prize Dr. Tan Tsze Chor Art Award (Abstract) 2003. She was a finalist in Sovereign Asian Art Prize (2009) and received the Bronze Award in UOB Painting of the Year 2014. Her work was recently shortlisted from over 4000 entries in a selection of 304 artists for the 6th Guanlan International Print Biennale 2017, China Printmaking Museum, Shenzhen.
Chang is a fine art graduate of Middlesex University London with a foundation in art education from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. Her art practice has been featured in dedicated episodes on national television in The Travelling Palette (2007; Mediacorp Singapore) and Passages: Art Nation with Beatrice Chia (2002; Mediacorp Singapore); and in several publications including Women Artists in Singapore (2011; Bridget T. Tan, National Heritage Board) and Printmaking Handbook (2008; Bonnell & Mumberson, A&C Black, London).
